Instomi Chest of Drawers
The Instomi Chest of Drawers (meaning stories in Xhosa) tells the story of the oak tree from which it is made. Using a repeat pattern of the pith of the oak tree reveals the lifeblood of the tree while the end grain allows us to count the age of the tree and to see the conditions in which it grew while the angular legs offer a counterpoint to the design.
